Bio
Renkow was born with cerebral palsy which understandably informs a significant part of his comedy in both his physicality on stage, and also with the language he uses and his attitude to life in general. Mexican born and raised in Memphis, his sets often focus on his American upbringing and his experiences of London life.
He stormed onto the London circuit in 2014, winning Leicester Square New Comedian of the Year. Both of the shows that he has taken to Edinburgh have been critically acclaimed. His debut was entitled At Least Hell Has Ramps and King of the Tramps being awarded 5 stars across the board. Renkow describes his comedy as “cheerfully dark. Being disabled I have always liked playing with peoples preconception of me my stand-up is a logical extension of that.”
Renkow has various TV credits to his name in addition to his stand-up work. He starred in NBC’s Before the Night After, BBC’s Fresh From The Fringe and has written for ITV’s Off Their Rockers.
The BBC3 sitcom Brief History of Tim in 2016 – a 15 minute sitcom about somebody who needs to get a job, but can’t stop ‘being a smart-ass for long enough to pass a job interview’ was named a ‘show you don’t want to miss’ by AOL. The show was met with much praise and has commissioned by the BBC for a full series, to be debuted in late 2018.
