Tune in and tune up for this radioactive rally for the future of radio comedy.

In the second part of our Audio LOLS series, professional stand up and BBC Radio host Tom Deacon, and host of BBC Radio 4 Extra’s Newsjack Angela Barnes, look at rediscovering radio for the next gen comics. From creating and hosting your own radio show to developing stand up specifically for the airwaves, tune in and tune up for this radioactive rally for the future of radio comedy.

Hosted by improv/stand up comedy legend and current star of Sky’s I Hate Suzie, Alison Thea-Skot.

Tom Deacon has been the host of his own TV, radio and online shows on BBC2, and BBC Radio 1, (including The Tom Deacon Comedy Show, Tom Deacon’s Wednesday Night Club, The 5.19 Show), The Capital FM breakfast show and YouTube football channel Copa90 – where his Eurofan escapades have notched up over 8 million views. This year Tom is filming his first ever stand up Special, ‘Rapture’. The show was performed at the 2019 New Zealand comedy festival and was picked up to make after its success. Also in the pipeline is a second season of ‘Games For The End Of The World’ which Tom hosts on Joe.co.uk. Now in his 13th year of performing stand-up around the UK and world, Tom has four Edinburgh solo shows under his belt and has also made guest appearances on BBC2’s The Rob Brydon Show, Dave’s One Night Stand and ITV2’s Fake Reaction.

Angela Barnes took the plunge and embarked on her life-long dream to be a comedian following a career in health and social care. Within a couple of years she had won the 2011 BBC New Comedy Award and became a finalist at the 2011 Latitude Festival New Act of the Year competition. Since 2011, Angela and her witty worldview have been catapulted onto numerous radio and television shows including appearances on BBC One’s Mock The Week, Love At The Apollo and BBC Radio 4’s The News Quiz. In 2017 she took over the prestigious role as host of BBC Radio 4 Extra’s Newsjack. She is now about to host her 4th and final series of the show. Angela had a series commissioned based on her debut Edinburgh show You Can’t Take It With You which saw her write and perform four 30 minute episodes for BBC Radio 4. After three sell out Edinburgh runs Angela hits the road with her show Fortitude. She can also be seen in Edinburgh this year where she’ll debut her new show Rose Tinted.

Start Time: We recommend joining at 6:30pm (UK time) to ensure you’re set-up for an 7pm start. Each gig lasts around 50-60 minutes.
