Outline:
NextUp are looking for a dynamite producer/production manager to join our small team on a 6 month basis to help us deliver two major projects that will be running until October 2026. We are a small but mighty group working flexibly to deliver brilliant comedy content, whether for our own SVOD platform or for our range of channel, broadcast and brand partners. We’re looking for an ambitious and driven Junior Producer, project manager or production co-ordinator who is looking to step up and into a key role for us at a transformational time. We’re a comedy company, founded by fans, and our mission is to amplify great comedy in the UK and beyond.
In April, we will be embarking on two major projects and are looking for a superstar to boss both from a production perspective. Working under the head of content, who will act as your line producer for these projects, you will be responsible for leading the production phase - coordinating and leading shoot crews on set, managing schedules and logistics, tracking costs, managing comms with our clients, being the point-person for all things related to those projects.
We are looking for someone who will bring drive, enthusiasm and creativity to the process - who can not only manage the logistical aspects but also provide creative input - constantly seeking to improve what we do and how we do it.
Working in a small team, the culture of our company is really important, so we’re looking for someone who can work semi-autonomously within our team, who will strive to make things better, and do so with a positive attitude. Our core values include trust, humour and self-motivation, so if you can bring them in spades, all the better.
Both projects involve filming comedy, in live comedy environments (venues, clubs etc), and working with comic talent. You’ll be front and centre in these settings, so must be confident working in slightly unusual conditions! Our projects will be taking place all over the UK, so travel (including evenings and weekends occasionally) will also be required. All travel/accomodation (including Edinburgh) will be provided.
What you’ll do:
● Lead the production (with HoC) on two major filming projects from April to October.
● Book, organise and lead on-set and post-production crews (camera, tech, editorial)
● Work with venue partners to ensure smooth filming operations, get-ins, logistics etc.
● Manage travel and accommodation schedules.
● Review edits, provide creative feedback and QC on all delivered assets.
● Deliver video assets to a high degree of quality, on schedule.
● Pro-actively seek ways to improve our process and quality of output.
● Be the day-to-day point of contact for clients, and handle all requests/changes with a professional and pro-active attitude.
● Attend all shoots (though we can flex a little here and there), These are 1 per week in April-July, across the UK, and then 20 days in Edinburgh (total shoots tbc but probably 10-15)
● Manage project budgets and track costs efficiently.
● Contribute creatively to crafting our Edinburgh Fringe project in 2026.
Must haves:
● Confidence with client comms at a brand level
● A good, practical understanding of video and post-production workflows.
● Drive, dedication and enthusiasm for what we create.
● Adaptability and quick-thinking
● Confidence in leading a small film crew
● A positive attitude, friendly approach
● The flexibility to work in a small, highly-motivated team where things can change rapidly.
Useful Extras:
● Editorial Skills (Premiere Pro, Final Cut)
● Camera skills (setup/operation)
● Technical understanding of live-stream situations
● A love for comedy!
How we work:
● A 4-day working week (specific days can flex, but mostly Monday-Thursday)
● Travel around the UK including evenings and weekends
● Fun/relaxed environment
Remuneration:
£36k PRO-RATA (£18k fee)
Per-Diems for working Edinburgh dates
TOIL days for evening/weekend work
Additional day rates available for candidates who can also provide camera/editing services.
