NextUp Comedy - Privacy Policy

1. Description of Service

This policy explains what information NextUp Comedy Ltd ("NextUp", "we", "us") collects when you use our service, how we store it and how we use it. We are registered in England and Wales, company number 09940291, and we are the controller of that information under UK data protection law. You can reach us at support@nextupcomedy.com.

We may update this policy from time to time. If you are a registered user we will email you about any material change at least 30 days before it takes effect.

2. Data Collection & Use

To register you give us your name, email address, country and the billing details needed to take payment. Card details are handled by our payment provider; we never see or store full card numbers. You can choose not to give us this information, but you will not then be able to use the service.

We use it to run your account, take payment, give you access to what you have paid for, answer your questions, keep the service secure, understand how the service is used so that we can improve it, and meet our accounting and legal obligations. We also create anonymised datasets from the information we hold and license those datasets to third parties, including for research and for training machine learning systems. Anonymised data cannot be linked back to you and is no longer personal information.

We rely on our contract with you for running your account and taking payment; on our legitimate interests for support, security, improving the service and creating anonymised datasets; on your consent for marketing; and on our legal obligations where the law requires it. Where we rely on legitimate interests you can object - see section 8.

3. Analytics

We collect information about how you use the service, including cookies, IP address, browser and device type, approximate location, internet service provider, entry and exit pages, operating system, and time and date stamps, together with what you watch and for how long. Our cookie settings let you control the non-essential cookies. Declining them limits some features.

4. Email Notices

When you register, your email address is added to our mailing list. You will receive account information and service updates. If you opt in to marketing about NextUp, you can unsubscribe at any time; you will still receive essential messages about your account, security and changes to these terms.

5. Sharing and Storage

We do not sell your personal information. We do license anonymised datasets, as described below and in section 2.

We share personal information with the suppliers who help us run the service - our streaming platform, payment processor, support system, email provider and analytics providers. They act on our instructions and cannot use it for their own purposes.

We share anonymised datasets with third parties who license them. These contain nothing that identifies you.

We and our suppliers store information in the United Kingdom, the European Economic Area and the United States. Where information is transferred outside the UK we rely on UK-approved safeguards, including the International Data Transfer Agreement or the UK Addendum to the standard contractual clauses.

We will also share information where the law requires it.

6. Business Transitions

If NextUp is sold, merged or transfers part of its business, information we hold will transfer as part of that.

7. Security and Retention

We protect your information in transit and at rest, limit who can access it and review that access. No system is completely secure and we cannot guarantee against every risk.

We keep your information for as long as you have an account with us, and afterwards for as long as we need it to meet our legal and accounting obligations - six years for financial records, as HMRC requires - or to deal with any question or claim that may still arise. Information we no longer need is deleted or anonymised.

8. Your Rights

You can ask us to give you a copy of your information, correct it, delete it, restrict how we use it, or provide it in a portable format. You can object to processing we carry out on the basis of legitimate interests, including the anonymised datasets described in section 2. You can withdraw consent to marketing at any time.

We sometimes create anonymised datasets from things like viewing patterns and support enquiries. If you would rather your information was not included, you can email support@nextupcomedy.com. No reason is needed and it will not affect your subscription.

For all enquiries, email support@nextupcomedy.com and we will respond as quickly as we can, and within one month at the latest.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
