Drum roll please…🥁

So Hannah shared an idea in the community chat yesterday and we loved it so much that we actually went away and made it real!

We’re doing a two-night livestream watch-along called My Funny Valentine, and it’s basically a curated montage of our favourite comedy moments about love, divorce, dating disasters, failed relationships and the joy (and chaos) of being single.

It’s made from on-demand clips, but we’ll be streaming it together so we can all hang out in the chat in real time and have a laugh.

Both nights start at 7pm GMT!

Also worth knowing: Saturday and Sunday are completely different montages, so coming to both isn’t just re-watching the same thing twice. Featured comedians will be announced soon...

You asked, we delivered! ❤️

New Show Alert! 🚨

After an award-nominated, sell-out Edinburgh Fringe debut, the young and gifted comic, Tadiwa Mahlunge, returns with another 'accomplished, infectiously funny' (Skinny Mag) hour. With more fevered tales of how this political refugee is trying to get out of the corporate rat race without losing his flat, or worse, himself. 'Fearless' (Daniel Kaluuya) ‘Impressive’ (Guardian) ‘Prodigious’ (Kiri Pritchard-McLean’) ‘The circuit might have created another Jimmy Carr.’ (Chortle)

Enjoy! Tell us what you think too! ❣️

Updates for tonight's stream gang!

(and yes - we're on site testing the mic as you can see)

Sadly Angela Barnes has caught COVID so will not be MCing. We have been told a replacement will step in, but we haven't been told who yet. Hopefully she gets well soon ❤️

The show has also been pushed back to 8pm by the organisers, but we will start the stream at the original start time of 7:30pm so the live chat launches. Apologies - this was outside of our control.

Thanks for bearing with us - the line-up is still a stonker, and all for an amazing cause. ✊

Valentine’s week is upon us 💘And before your partner, crush, situationship or imaginary lover asks - no, this isn’t a proposal. It IS your heads-up on what’s on this week on NextUp though!

Big Cheer Comedy Night (in support of Amaze): Amaze’s comedy fundraiser at Komedia, the Big Cheer is back for 2026! Hosted by Amaze patron Angela Barnes and featuring a host of the brightest names in the world of stand-up, don’t miss this very funny evening of entertainment. The current acts confirmed include Laura Smyth, Jen Brister and Alistair Barrie. Every pound raised for Amaze by supporting this event helps disabled children and young people and their families to thrive.

The Bill Murray: Angel Comedy Club is 'a comedy institution' (Time Out) that puts on affordable, world-class shows every night of the week. This comedy night showcases the best talent in the UK and beyond. Lots of their regulars have gone on to appear on Live at the Apollo, on panel shows like Mock The Week or have their own specials on Netflix. It's a friendly place where you get to see tomorrow's stars just before they break big. Lineup coming soon!

As always, I’ll be around in the chat for the live shows!

P.S. I've zoomed in on the schedule (slide 2) for those who said it was hard to read. Let me know if it's better? 😀

New Show Alert! Another one? YES! 😁

'Laws is one of the most skilled and likeable comics on the circuit' (Scotsman) and 'echoes the late, great Sean Lock' (BeyondTheJoke.co.uk). Watch him do an hour of comedy. If you’ve made it this far you should know this will be free-wheeling, big chunks improvised, some old classics – basically changing every time and a chance for Stuart to not worry about structural callbacks and messages. 'You'll struggle to find a comedian with a better jokes per minute rate... like a one-man episode of Arrested Development' (Fest)

Enjoy NextUppers! ❣️

Hey, so...I wanted to be the first to ask you - before your partner, your crush, or your situationship - will you be my Valentine?

No? That’s fine. I was joking, obviously. 😅

Anywaaaay, here’s what’s on this week on NextUp. Good comedy and no awkward dinner reservations required. Just you, your sofa, and some very funny people.

❤️ Beat the Frog: New Comedians try to 'beat the frog' in this anarchic, iconic show. This is the most unpredictable comedy night in the north.

❤️ Roast Battle Scotland: The show that turns smack talk into an art form! Roast Battle Edinburgh puts comedians head-to-head in a battle of verbal onslaughts.

Lots of love (in a non-creepy way)

Kai

New Show Alert! Whoop whoop! 🚨

Award-winning Aussie oddball, Josh Glanc, doles out original songs, tender crowd-work, and a wackily inventive absurdism all his own. Nominated for the Edinburgh Comedy Award and listed by Rolling Stone Magazine as one of the stand-out shows of the Edinburgh Fringe.

So looking forward to hearing your thoughts! Especially if you think the opening song is true?! Because if it is, Josh needs to write a book about it.
