Hiya friends ☕️

Just a little heads-up because you’re going to hear from us properly very soon…We’ve got some genuinely exciting ideas bubbling away at NextUp HQ.

We’re starting to think beyond just being a streaming platform and more about turning NextUp into a proper online community hub for people who love comedy - the shows, the chats, the hanging out, the whole thing.

You’ll be getting an email from us soon with a short Google Form. Nothing scary or time-consuming - it’s basically us being nosy and asking what you want this community to become, so we can build it with you rather than just at you.

Keep an eye on your inbox and thank you in advance for helping shape what NextUp turns into next! ❣️

Hello gang! In a completely serious attempt to improve everyone’s day/week/year/life, we’re sharing some photos of the real love of our lives: our pets.

Now over to you - if you’ve got a pet, drop a picture in the comments. No need to name drop and no backstory required unless you want to share! 🫶🏼

This is absolutely not a competition…but it kind of is 🐾

Happy Monday guys! Quick question out of curiosity - what’s one show on NextUp you’d tell a friend to start with? I know mine, but intrigued to hear yours! 🤭

Hey, so...I wanted to be the first to ask you - before your partner, your crush, or your situationship - will you be my Valentine?

No? That’s fine. I was joking, obviously. 😅

Anywaaaay, here’s what’s on this week on NextUp. Good comedy and no awkward dinner reservations required. Just you, your sofa, and some very funny people.

❤️ Beat the Frog: New Comedians try to 'beat the frog' in this anarchic, iconic show. This is the most unpredictable comedy night in the north.

❤️ Roast Battle Scotland: The show that turns smack talk into an art form! Roast Battle Edinburgh puts comedians head-to-head in a battle of verbal onslaughts.

Lots of love (in a non-creepy way)

Kai

Keeping in line with our Meet the Team series, here's Isabelle/Issie behind-the-scenes planning the socials for the week ahead and generally being silly. If you aren't following NextUp on Instagram or Facebook yet, go make her day and comment "Kai sent me!" on a recent post. It's an inside joke only we'll know. 👀

Welcome to The Pub! 🗣️

This is the bit of the community that’s less “what’s on this week” and more “what are we all chatting about”.

Think of it like the pub after the gig (a big thank you to Indulis for the inspiration!) Just a place to hang out, talk nonsense, answer silly polls, share opinions and generally loiter...

I’ll be dropping the odd BTS or mildly pointless thought in here 😉, and you’re very welcome to do the same. Join in loads, dip in occasionally or you know, just sit in the corner nursing a drink. All acceptable pub behaviour!

Pull up a chair and make yourself at home.

Cheers!

NextUppers! Can you believe it’s Sunday again? 🫠

Luckily we’ve lined up some great comedy on NextUp this week to help you pretend you’re busy while actually watching stuff from the couch. Here’s what’s coming up....

😎The Bill Murray: This comedy night showcases the best talent in the UK and beyond. Get to see tomorrow's stars just before they break big.

🎟️Glee Club Birmingham: The perfect way to end the working week! Four superb stand-up comedians from rising stars to household names, beamed to your eyeballs and audio canals direct from the amazing Glee Club in Birmingham.

Catch ya on the flip side! 🤩

New Show Alert! Whoop whoop! 🚨

Award-winning Aussie oddball, Josh Glanc, doles out original songs, tender crowd-work, and a wackily inventive absurdism all his own. Nominated for the Edinburgh Comedy Award and listed by Rolling Stone Magazine as one of the stand-out shows of the Edinburgh Fringe.

So looking forward to hearing your thoughts! Especially if you think the opening song is true?! Because if it is, Josh needs to write a book about it.
