Updates for tonight's stream gang!

(and yes - we're on site testing the mic as you can see)

Sadly Angela Barnes has caught COVID so will not be MCing. We have been told a replacement will step in, but we haven't been told who yet. Hopefully she gets well soon ❤️

The show has also been pushed back to 8pm by the organisers, but we will start the stream at the original start time of 7:30pm so the live chat launches. Apologies - this was outside of our control.

Thanks for bearing with us - the line-up is still a stonker, and all for an amazing cause. ✊

I asked the team if I can share this early with you guys and they said YES! If your subscription is coming to an end between now and the end of February, you can use the discount code VDAY25 for 25% off a yearly pass. We haven't told anyone else yet BUT feel free to share this secret with friends and family who want to join the NextUp community this month.❣️

Unashamedly going to lean into the love theme this week (don't kill me!) So to start us off, I want to know what everyone's favourite rom-com or romance film is? For me it's The Princess Bride or The Notebook 😆❣️

Valentine’s week is upon us 💘And before your partner, crush, situationship or imaginary lover asks - no, this isn’t a proposal. It IS your heads-up on what’s on this week on NextUp though!

Big Cheer Comedy Night (in support of Amaze): Amaze’s comedy fundraiser at Komedia, the Big Cheer is back for 2026! Hosted by Amaze patron Angela Barnes and featuring a host of the brightest names in the world of stand-up, don’t miss this very funny evening of entertainment. The current acts confirmed include Laura Smyth, Jen Brister and Alistair Barrie. Every pound raised for Amaze by supporting this event helps disabled children and young people and their families to thrive.

The Bill Murray: Angel Comedy Club is 'a comedy institution' (Time Out) that puts on affordable, world-class shows every night of the week. This comedy night showcases the best talent in the UK and beyond. Lots of their regulars have gone on to appear on Live at the Apollo, on panel shows like Mock The Week or have their own specials on Netflix. It's a friendly place where you get to see tomorrow's stars just before they break big. Lineup coming soon!

As always, I’ll be around in the chat for the live shows!

P.S. I've zoomed in on the schedule (slide 2) for those who said it was hard to read. Let me know if it's better? 😀

Alright you hopeless romantics, we’re opening the floor for some very important research…

Drop your best (or worst) pick-up lines in the comments. Smooth, awful, accidentally funny - we want them all. 💘

We’ll be featuring our favourites on Instagram next week, so now’s your moment to shine / embarrass yourself publicly (in a safe space).

Go on then! #NextUpAndChill

New Show Alert! Another one? YES! 😁

'Laws is one of the most skilled and likeable comics on the circuit' (Scotsman) and 'echoes the late, great Sean Lock' (BeyondTheJoke.co.uk). Watch him do an hour of comedy. If you’ve made it this far you should know this will be free-wheeling, big chunks improvised, some old classics – basically changing every time and a chance for Stuart to not worry about structural callbacks and messages. 'You'll struggle to find a comedian with a better jokes per minute rate... like a one-man episode of Arrested Development' (Fest)

Enjoy NextUppers! ❣️

Hiya friends ☕️

Just a little heads-up because you’re going to hear from us properly very soon…We’ve got some genuinely exciting ideas bubbling away at NextUp HQ.

We’re starting to think beyond just being a streaming platform and more about turning NextUp into a proper online community hub for people who love comedy - the shows, the chats, the hanging out, the whole thing.

You’ll be getting an email from us soon with a short Google Form. Nothing scary or time-consuming - it’s basically us being nosy and asking what you want this community to become, so we can build it with you rather than just at you.

Keep an eye on your inbox and thank you in advance for helping shape what NextUp turns into next! ❣️
